Spider Patience — Free Spider Solitaire

Play the original Spider Solitaire: choose one, two or four suits.

How to play Spider Solitaire

Build eight complete sequences from King down to Ace, with every card in a completed sequence belonging to the same suit. A finished sequence moves off the table. Clear all 104 cards to win.

Drag a face-up card onto a card exactly one rank higher: a 7 can go onto an 8. You may temporarily stack different suits, but a group only moves together when it is a descending sequence in the same suit. An empty column accepts any card or a movable sequence.

9♠
8♠
10♠A matching descending sequence can move together.

Choose a difficulty

  • 1 suit: all cards are spades. Learn the movement and planning rules here.
  • 2 suits: hearts and spades. Keep matching sequences together while using mixed stacks temporarily.
  • 4 suits: hearts, spades, diamonds and clubs. Plan the order in which you uncover and reorganize cards.

When to deal another row

The stock at the lower right provides five further rows of ten cards. Fill every empty column before dealing. Uncover useful hidden cards and improve existing sequences first; a new row covers the bottom cards of all ten columns and can make a temporary mixed stack harder to separate.

Three habits worth practising

  1. Uncover a hidden card when it preserves your options. Compare both available moves instead of automatically building the longest visible stack.
  2. Protect an empty column. Use it as working space to split mixed suits and rebuild matching sequences.
  3. Check the stock before a big rearrangement. If a deal is likely to be your next move, make sure every column can be filled.

Use the help icon inside the original game for its controls. The daily challenge gives a separate one-suit layout that changes with the UTC date.

Playing on a phone

Rotate to landscape for more room. Use Full screen to expand the play area, or Larger cards to enlarge the board and scroll sideways. Select Fit board to see every column together again. Drag the cards themselves; scroll using the surrounding board area.

Saving and your statistics

Your current layout, stock, score and moves save on this browser after the deal or move settles. Each difficulty keeps a separate saved game. Choose the same level to continue. New game replaces that level’s saved game after confirmation. The original restart button also starts over.

Open Your statistics for games started, wins, best winning time and fewest winning moves. Time counts while the game tab is active. This game has no undo button. Progress stays on this device; clearing browser data, private browsing restrictions or blocked storage can remove or prevent saves. No account is required.
